To acquaint undergraduate with the functional styles of a modern foreign language in professional activities; to form and develop communicative competencies (linguistic, sociolinguistic, sociocultural, strategic, discursive and pragmatic) necessary for professional activity; to form a sufficient level of proficiency in a professional foreign language for the implementation of written and oral information exchange, which implies the development of communication skills, the further development of all types of speech activity (reading, writing, listening and speaking - monologue and dialogical speech), as well as systematically expanding an active professional vocabulary; to introduce students to independent research work on the language, to develop students' analytical approach to the studied linguistic phenomena by comparing them with the corresponding phenomena of the native language.
